Notice in Deuteronomy 32: Even young children could begin to learn (Deuteronomy 4:9-10; 11:16-19; Psalm 78:3-6; Ephesians 6:4; 2 Timothy 3:15). Paul reminded Timothy, “From childhood [literally, infancy] you have been acquainted with the sacred writings” (2 Timothy 3:15). When instructed, even foreigners like the Ethiopian could understand (Acts 8:30-40).

As it is written, “Those who have never been told of Him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.” (Romans 15:21)

For we are not writing to you anything other than what you read and understand and I hope you will fully understand. (2 Corinthians 1:13)

Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. (Ephesians 5:17)

Is everything in the Bible easy to understand? Certainly, there are difficult passages (John 6:60; 8:43; 2 Peter 3:16). There are parts that require you to think and to study carefully.

Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything….Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:7, 15)

This Bible course has a simple purpose: To help with becoming an approved worker, “rightly handling” God’s word. This first lesson’s main point is simple: Our Creator made us in His image, with all the abilities we need. He gave meaning to each of His words, with the intention of being understood. We are not naive, as if all mysteries have been solved. But God “revealed” for that very purpose—to reveal, to uncover what was hidden, to give us clarity, to make truth our own.

The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. (Deuteronomy 29:29)

You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:32)

Stewardship from God was given to me [Paul] for you, to make the word of God fully known. (Colossians 1:25)
