To which voice are you listening? Discernment is especially important in view of biblical warnings and prophecies.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths (2 Timothy 4:3-4 cf. 1 Timothy 4:1-4; 2 Peter 1:1-2; Jude 1:17-19).

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. … Why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—“Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? (Colossians 2:8, 20-22)

In vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men (Mark 7:7-8 cf. Titus 1:14).

They teach as doctrines man-made commandments.

Do traditions still push aside God’s commandments? Do men still make up their own religious rules and regulations? Do their respective rules conflict with each other and cause believers to be divided? The one Father provides the solution to today’s religious confusion. His name is Jesus. His title is Lord. When we truly honor Him as our “one Lord” we maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
