Let’s look again at the words of Satan (Iblis) to Eve. We can see all that Satan has done and is doing in the world. On that day of temptation, Satan revealed his entire plan for the downfall of man. He still works this way today through false religion and rebellious lives. In Genesis 3.4-5, Prophet Moses (Musa) wrote for us what Satan said to tempt the woman:
a. “You will be like God” – This shows that Satan will try to interest people to seek power so that they might have control over things.
b. “You will not die” – Satan wants to deny that death is final and that it brings judgment. Also, Satan tries to get people to talk with those who are dead, and he deceives them through this false idea.
c. “You will know good and evil” – Satan wants people to decide for themselves what they think is right and wrong. He wants us to reject God’s ways and make our own judgments, rather than following his Word, The Bible.
d. “Your eyes will be opened” – Satan wants us to seek special knowledge or secret ways of mystery and darkness. He tempts us to follow people who say they have this special knowledge, or say they talk to spiritual powers of darkness.
The worship of false gods, idols, and false religions shows us much moral corruption and twisting of God’s truth. We see immoral activities like sexual sin, lying, glorifying man’s abilities, working with evil spirits, and rebellion against God’s commands. These things cause understanding to grow dark and bring people great sadness. Hear the words of Apostle Paul in the Bible:
So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Ephesians 4.17-18
