As we discuss teaching, we do so with humility, especially when we consider Jesus’ statement:

But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers. And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven. Neither be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Christ (Matthew 23:8-10).

Shortly after Matthew 23, and after His resurrection, Jesus commissions His disciples to teach (Matthew 28:19-20). In the disciple-making process, how can we make sure that, as John 6:45 says, God is doing the teaching? How can we give Jesus His honored role as the “one instructor”?

The answer is to become a channel through which Christ’s teachings flow freely, like water flowing through a clean pipe to bless thirsty people.
