When Christ comes again, he will bring a day of judgment for all mankind. Jesus Christ said:
“I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.” John 5.25-29
Jesus is the Son of Man because he is man, the sinless man, the man who submits perfectly to God’s will. He is the Son of God because he is exactly like God in human form, with all God’s power and love. In him is the fullness of God and he is King of the kingdom of God within us. Because of his special qualifications and authority in both heaven (Son of God) and earth (Son of Man), Jesus will judge the world.
“As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day.” John 12.47-48 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.…’ Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’” Matthew 25.31-41
We will be judged according to the teachings of Jesus. The glories of eternal life with God in heaven are ours if we live in Christ Jesus our Lord. The fires of judgment and destruction will be our end if we reject the Way of Life in Jesus Christ.
