FOUNDATION

When someone builds a house, they first must make a strong foundation.  Every permanent structure must first have a strong foundation.  A tall building of many floors has many floors under the ground as a foundation to give it strength.  The roots of a big tree are as big as the tree itself. The foundation of a strong family is Jesus Christ.

“Whoever hears these teachings of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who bult his house on rock.  It rained hard, and the floods came.  The winds blew and beat against that house.  But it did not fall because it was built on rock.”  (Matthew 7:24-25)

Paul said the foundation is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11) Making Jesus the foundation of your home and family means total commitment to Him.

HUSBAND AND WIFE COMMITMENT

Once the foundation has been laid then a husband and wife build their life on that foundation.   First, they love Jesus and commit fully to Him.  Next, they must be fully committed to their marriage.  If they are going to build a strong family, they cannot enter marriage with an attitude of failure or guarding an “option” of divorce.  In another chapter it was stated that every marriage has problems. But the love of a committed husband and wife whose lives are built on the foundation of Jesus Christ will make them succeed.

CHILDREN

When this committed couple begin to have children, they have already begun their strong family.  The family is built on the strongest foundation, and their commitment and love for one another will give them the strength to endure.  What a blessing for children born into that kind of family because they have a greater chance of succeeding.
