Notice that marriage began before children were born. Marriage does not depend on having children. Marriage consists of a man and woman 1) deciding to start their own family and leaving their parents, 2) making a commitment to stay together for as long as both live, and 3) becoming one in every way. Often in the physical act of becoming one, a child is conceived. But they are a family even before a child comes along.
Sometimes a man judges his wife if she does not conceive in a timely manner. This is not right. She is his wife, with or without children, and should be honored as such. Other solutions can be found if a woman does not conceive a child like having a physical examination to see if one of them has some physical problem that prevents pregnancy. One can adopt a child or care for orphans. Getting involved in a ministry that is rewarding. Make use of both the husband’s and wife’s talents. Whatever the choices, they should fulfill God’s revealed will for their lives. That includes accepting their situation and continuing to honor one another in their marriage.
May God bless you as you strive to make your marriage fulfilling in every way—loving, joyful, productive, peaceful and founded on a strong foundation of faith in God. One thing to remember is that your relationship to one another and to God is like a triangle with God at the top. The closer you draw to God the closer you come to one another, as you move up the two sides of the triangle.
