Someone has said, “Our favorite sport is jumping … jumping to conclusions!” Many relational problems arise from conclusions reached without knowing all the facts. Such conclusions are usually negative, leading to unhealthy attitudes and unhelpful actions. “If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame” (Proverbs 18:13). When two people or two groups are in conflict, never make decisions after hearing just one side. “The one who states his case first seems right, until the other comes and examines him” (Proverbs 18:17). Keep an open mind. If you must choose sides, make sure it is Jesus’ side.
