Ephesians emphasizes the divine initiative that brings together all who are saved “in Christ.” We cannot change that initiative. We can only accept or reject it. We can maintain the Spirit’s unity or despair in unbelief. Ephesians encourages acceptance. Praise God for such rich grace! Embrace your welcome into God’s family, your full status as His children. Nurture the family’s unity already established by the cross. Celebrate it in the Lord’s Supper. Look forward with full assurance to the “one hope” shared by the entire family. Do you grasp what it means to be God’s child? A true child is also an heir, a co-heir with God’s own Son! Open the eyes of your heart to “know what is the hope” of your glorious inheritance. Catch glimpses of it in writings like Revelation. The path to glory is the same as Jesus walked. You will suffer with Him. But He will give you strength to overcome because “Christ in you” is “the hope of glory.”
