We pray that God will guide you in truth and honesty. We pray that his grace will appear clearly to you through a study of his Word. May he bless you with understanding of his purpose for creation, and his purpose for creating you.
THE BIBLE
The word “Bible” means “book.” The Bible is a collection of the writings of the prophets of God. It tells one long story of God’s work in our world. It is divided into 66 smaller books, although all of the 66 books show God creating and following a plan for our world. We see two halves in the Bible: The first one is called the Old Testament (39 books). It contains messages received before the coming of Jesus Christ (Isa Al-Masih). The second one is the New Testament (27 books), and it contains the Gospel (Injil) of Jesus Christ. The Bible is messages from God received directly by prophets, and it tells of God’s actions among his people. These writings come to us as history and poetry. God showed what he wanted the prophets to say, and he guided them to write down the records that he wanted to preserve for all mankind. He also has kept these many writings safe through the years. Even though the parts of the Bible were written in many places by more than 40 different prophets, it contains one complete message, perfect and without changes or mistakes.
Sometimes people say the Bible has been corrupted or changed by Christians or by Jews. We will talk more of this later. For now, let us say that no such changes can be proven. We should remember it is not a small thing to accuse God of allowing his Word to be changed. The Bible is God’s Word, true and eternal. It is not a “Christian” or “Jewish” book. It is God’s book, meant for all people and all times.
