What an amazing spiritual sight: Their Majesties, the Father and the Son, who live in the highest and holiest place, come down to live with lowly humans!8 They make Themselves at home with “anyone” who loves and obeys. They want us to feel fully at home with Them. For this purpose, They send Paul as an “ambassador” and “apostle to the Gentiles.”9 He writes to assure faithful Asians of their welcome as true sons of the Royal House.
For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God… In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit (Ephesians 2:18-19,22).
This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel (Ephesians 3:6).
This united body is “the church” of God’s “eternal purpose,” now accomplished in Christ (Ephesians 3:6-11). Here we each “put on the new self” and “there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all” (Colossians 3:10-11). There can be no difference, for the same Spirit brings us all into the same family by the same believing birth.10
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13). M
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise (Galatians 3:27-29).
