How then should we listen? With both honesty and humility! Let go of selfish attitudes and worldly thoughts. Start all over again, like a baby discovering the world, or like a child beginning school.19 Be prepared for great changes. “As the heavens are higher than the earth,” says the Lord, “so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isa 55:9). Astounding as it sounds, our task is to learn the mind of the Lord!20 We need to know how He thinks because “we make it our aim to please Him” (2Cor 5:9).21
… and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord…. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is (Eph 5:10,17). M
Without Christ, our minds are foolish. With Christ, our minds are corrected, or more accurately, re-created! He changes and transforms us by giving us new attitudes and minds.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind… (Rom 12:2). M … put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness (Eph 4:22,24).
Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator (Col 3:9-10).
