During those long years many more people heard about God’s promises. New rulers took the land of Israel. Some Israelites (by then called Jews) stayed there. Others were taken far away. In far countries they told others of the one true God. Even some non-Jews came to believe in God’s promises. More and more people looked forward to the Lord’s coming.
