When we believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, we are saying we accept his message as the true words from God. He is not only the Messenger of God, he is the Message. He himself is the Word of Life. Because there is only one like him, we see that Jesus shows us the true victory over the powers of evil. He teaches us how to have faith in God. He leads us to make decisions and solve problems in our lives. We have faith and trust in God rather than force and fear. He shows us the power of his resurrection to bring life over death. He shows us the forgiveness of sins. The way of Jesus Christ is a way of progress and success. It is filled with peace and true understanding rather than selfishness and slavery. In Jesus there is freedom from lies. In Jesus there is life in the Holy Spirit who gives us power to live as the children of God. And in Jesus, we see the true nature of God’s rule in this world and in the world to come.

The simple life and teachings of Jesus and his suffering and resurrection from the dead show us that we must not choose the easiest way in life. We must not think that any means to gain power is good, for then we become the slaves of evil desires. Jesus showed us that instead we must choose the way of holiness, faith and sacrifice, for this gives glory to God. Jesus restores the world to the rightful place of submission to God, for he submitted to God’s will. In Jesus is true submission. He brings forgiveness and makes us pure and holy before God. He establishes and protects the promise between God and the believers. His death and resurrection forever changed the world and all creation by breaking the power of Satan and the curse of sin. Because of all of this and much more, we say that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. There is no one like him. Let us close this lesson with more words from the Gospel and from the prophet Isaiah:

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Letter to the Hebrews 12.2

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions , he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray , each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53: 3-6
