It was through his death that Jesus Christ was able to defeat the greatest power of Satan – the power of sin and death. Jesus let himself to be killed so that he would enter the Hell for us. Then he came back to life and destroyed forever the power of sin and death. Read these verses from the Holy Bible and see the mind of God as revealed through his prophets:
The soul who sins is the one who will die. Prophet Ezekiel, 18.20
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. Apostle Paul, Romans 5.12
He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. Prophet and Apostle John, First Letter of John 3.8
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. Letter to the Hebrews 2.14-15
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Apostle Paul, Letter to the Colossians 2.13-15
