Look at a bank note that has some value. Whether the bill is issued by your own nation or by another nation, there are identifying marks to prove its genuineness, such as the following:

  • Face Often the bank note has a national leader’s face.
  • Value The bank note displays its value and currency (Euro, dollar, yen, pound, etc.).
  • Nation The bank note states the nation that issued it.
  • Authority Official notices, signatures or seals show the authority that ensures the money’s value.
  • Patterns Most paper money has intricate lines and patterns designed to discourage forgeries.
  • Features For the same purpose, some currencies include security features such as special inks and an embedded thread that glows under ultraviolet light.
