Evangelism benefits from many methods and tools. But true effectiveness begins with spiritual tools. Spiritual work needs spiritual tools. Evangelism is a form of spiritual warfare in which truth overcomes falsehood. We may be tempted to us the world’s methods, but they lack the power of evangelism, which is “the power of God … divine power.”
As servants of God we commend ourselves in every way … by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left (2 Corinthians 6:4, 7).
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
