Some think that if the law is no longer over us, then nothing is over us. They fear that chaos, confusion and sin must be the result. However, the idea that nothing came after the law is mistaken. Listen carefully to Jesus’ emphasis as He laid the groundwork for all future Christianity.
Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
When Jesus sent His followers into the world, He did not instruct them to make disciples for Moses. He did not order people to obey the law. Instead, He revealed Himself as the One with all authority, the Master of the entire universe. Those who believed the Gospel were directed to obey Jesus—“all that I have commanded you.”
