One of Adam’s roles as a husband was to make his wife the “queen of his domain”. There was no one or no other woman above Eve. Well, at the time, there was only one woman so what choice did he have? He lived to be 930 years old and by that time women were everywhere. To Adam, God was first, Eve was second. He saw in her what he needed and wanted as a wife. Sometimes a husband forgets just how special his wife is. A man chooses his wife out of all the women in the world. Troubles come, situations of life crowd in and soon the husband forgets how special she is and thus he fails in his role to honor her and protect her. The apostle Peter, who scripture indicates was married, said it like this:
“…you husbands should live with your wives in an understanding way since they are weaker than you. You should show them respect, because God gave them the same blessing He gave you—the grace of true life…”. (1 Peter 3:7)
His role then is to understand what she needs and then meet those needs. His job is to sacrifice himself to protect her from danger, because she was not given the muscular strength of her husband. His role is to respect her and serve her as the love of his life.
