Jesus Christ had the power to heal the sick, rule the physical world of nature, and forgive sins. He proved this power by performing many wonderful miracles. He still has this power while he is in heaven today. This great love and mercy shown to us by God through Jesus Christ is beyond our understanding. We will close this lesson by reading about when Jesus healed ten men at once:
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him— and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” Luke 17.11-19
This Samaritan man would never have been allowed to receive help from the priests in Jerusalem. It was against Jewish law for a Samaritan to enter the temple. Even though the Samaritan knew this law, he obeyed Jesus with the faith that he had. Because of this, the power of Jesus Christ came upon him, and he was healed. He came back to thank Jesus because he was so happy to be well, but he did know that there was no place for him at the temple in Jerusalem. Even though religious leaders at that time did not accept this man, Jesus did. Jesus blessed him for his faith.
