Are you committed to “live a life of love”? If so, do you grasp the sheer magnitude of the challenge you are accepting? Think about the demands of Christ-like love.
Love – agape love as defined by Scripture1 – comes neither naturally nor easily for us. We humans tend to be selfish, or at least to shy away from sacrifice and pain. Now we learn that this “new” love means loving as Jesus loves!2 Like Jesus, the truly loving person sacrifices himself in order to honor God and help others. Such selfless love is essential – the very core of Christian living! How can we fathom Christ’s deep love, much less imitate it? Where do we find the courage to lay down our lives for others? How dare I take on great responsibilities on behalf of God?
