The Great Commission of Matthew 28 includes us all. If we obey all Christ commanded, that certainly includes the main command in that context: “make disciples.” As God’s team, each one works, using his or her special roles, abilities and opportunities (Acts 8:4; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 3:5-15; Ephesians 4:4-16; 1 Peter 3:15; 4:10-11). This fits the New Testament’s teaching that each member is a priest of God (Revelation 1:6).
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9).
Have you thought of yourself as a priest? This is not just about an honorary position. Rather, this is a practical priesthood that proclaims! Here is your personal call to ministry. Christ’s Commission is so great that it needs the whole church. Each and every member shares and spreads the Good News (Acts 8:4; Colossians 4:5-6; Hebrews 5:12; 1 Peter 2:9; 3:15).
This course is in your hands because someone cares about you. Like Paul, we use “all means” that honestly help people obey the Gospel.
I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the Gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings (1 Corinthians 9:22-23).
If you have entered Christ through His Gospel event, you know enough to tell others. At the very least, you can share this course with others. Begin serving. Live the Gospel. Tell the Gospel. Many others in your chain of influence are depending on you. Without you, they may never know Jesus. So never be ashamed to speak. Always be ready to share Good News!
… but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes… (Romans 1:16).
This really is Good News! Believe it! Obey it! Live it! Enjoy it! Share it!
